Tax Credit for Your Business

Partner with us to create brighter futures while your business benefits as well.

At Natchez Children’s Services, we believe communities thrive when local businesses and citizens support children. The Children’s Promise Act enables Mississippi businesses to promote healing, hope, and safety while earning a dollar-for-dollar tax credit.

What is the Children’s Promise Act?

The Children’s Promise Act gives Mississippi businesses the opportunity to receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit — up to 50% of your tax liability — when you make a donation to qualified charities like NCS.

Your support is an investment in the next generation.

When one child receives help, hope extends to families, schools, and the entire community.

How your business can make a lasting difference

If your business is an S-Corporation, partnership, LLC, or sole proprietorship that owns real property, you may qualify for this tax credit. By contributing up to 50% of your property tax liability to Natchez Children’s Services, you can provide direct support to children in need.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Determine your real property tax liability for business-owned land or buildings.
  2. Apply for the credit through the Mississippi Department of Revenue (tap.dor.ms.gov).
  3. Within 30 days, you’ll receive an approval letter from the DOR.
  4. Make your donation to Natchez Children’s Services within 60 days after approval (or by December 31, whichever comes first).
  5. Upload your donation acknowledgment via the same MDOR portal.
  6. After final approval, file the required forms with your county tax assessor to apply the credit to your bill.

Our team is available to guide you through each step to ensure a smooth process.

Common Questions — Answered with Care

What if my business doesn’t own real property?

No problem! You can still participate. Even if your business pays income tax, insurance premium tax, or another eligible Mississippi tax, you may donate up to 50% of that liability and claim the credit.

We will work with you to identify the best way for your business to make an impact.

Does my county lose revenue when I claim the credit?

No. The State of Mississippi reimburses counties for tax credit amounts, so your contribution does not reduce local resources. It redirects your tax dollars to support children.

What if I pay my property taxes in installments?

You can still apply the credit. We will help you schedule your donation to align with your payment schedule. If you pay in two parts, you may apply the credit before your final payment, and we will ensure the process is completed correctly.

What if the property is in my name personally, but the business pays the taxes?

Eligibility depends on who pays the taxes, not who holds the deed. If your business is making the payments, you may still qualify.

Together, We Make Healing Possible

Through this program, Mississippi business owners have redirected thousands of tax dollars to serve children and families in need, turning obligations into opportunities for compassion.

By participating, your business gains more than a tax credit. You help a child find safety. You give a family a chance to heal. You strengthen the heart of our community.
